Favorite Dress

my favorite dress is from Dolce & Gabbana. it is their simple yet classy dress. what i love about this dress is that its a fitted tube dress. it is green and black in color and im so loving the leopard print in this color, makes it look so unique and one can easily tell its a Dolce dress. it is a knee length dress. these kind of dresses are so successful and are worn by most of the women is because it is elegant. it gives one a very sophisticated look. it does not contain any sort of bling or anything which makes it very subtle and beautiful. it is hard to show this kind of look in any dress.

The Event Armor Process

making my garment was a huge challenge but i did it.. I faced every single difficulty, be it burning by hand from the glue gun or stapling my own fingers. I did everything and im proud of myself. so i started out by making 3-4 designs from which i came down to one. after finalizing my design and my color palette which was - Red, Black and Silver, i started taking measurements of the manikin in order to make this process a bit easier. then it came down to the main part.. MAKING A DRESS OUT OF PAPER! NOTHING BUT PAPER!! i had to take care of many things here.. starting from how i've to cut my dress to how i have to paint it to which glue to use. i wouldn't say its easy, but its definitely worth it. wow, it was task! after hours of painting and cutting paper and pasting mirrors with a glue gun.. my dress was complete and it looked just the way i wanted it to look :D which made me very happy. making this garment had its ups and downs, there was a time where i wanted to just give up but i didn't, i made my garment with all my hardwork.. and hardwork pays off! one just needs to be focused and work hard and there, you're done with that fabulous garment!

Event Armor

my dress is inspired from my event. my event is my brother's car accident which left a huge impact on me. my intention was to create a dress which looked different, bold and shiny. i used red, black and silver paper and made a dress out of it. it also had to be inspired from armors. according to me, the strongest part of my piece is the detailing that i did. i took care of the slightest things.. from the size of the mirrors to the way i stuck paper with a glue gun. my garment is black and red and has mirror work all over. if i had another chance to make this dress, i'd definitely use fabric which will make my dress wearable. making this garment was a challenge but i did my very best.

Impossible Conversations

I would LOVE to have a conversation with Dolce & Gabbana. Apart from being so different in their style, their work is absolutely stunning and amazing. i love every single thing about their work, be it their shoes or clothes or perfumes. i would love to know so much about them, starting from how they actually met each other and started out to create this beautiful brand to how they work, how they generate such glamorous ideas. mostly, i love how they can transform any outfit to their trademark leopard print. its actually really fascinating. Since that print is my favorite, it makes me love that brand even more. i love their clothes, love observing each and every thing they do on a particular cloth. when i start doing my work or making any design, i think of them, i think of how amazingly everything is put together, how even just a plain white T- Shirt can say so much. Dolce & Gabbana use various textures and materials and when you see so much all together, it looks fantastic! i love how they make snake skin shoes and their gorgeous plain black leather jackets which just has their " Dolce & Gabbana" written on it. something about their clothes is so extraordinary. its simple yet so classy. Domenico Dolce studied fashion design and worked in his family's small clothing factory and Stefano Gabbana had no education in fashion design.. and look! how far both of them have come. it makes me think anything and everything is possible in life. one just needs to be very dedicated and one needs to love what they do. Both of them have inspired me in so many ways ranging from style to some personal beliefs. it would be a dream come true if i ever had a chance to have a conversation with them.

Graphic Design Unit - Design

my final book cover

we started out by making an abstract painting of our event. this took time as we had to really brainstorm ourselves in order to reach a really good abstract design for the painting. then we worked in the labs, learning how to use Photoshop and Illustrator which was so much fun and it fascinated me quite a lot. I took out a final printout of my painting ( the one which we had to make in the drawing class ) and it looked amazing as i had changed the color contrast and sorta played with the features which were available there. and finally, we made a book cover. in this we had to imagine that our event was a story so what would be the title of this novel? LOADS OF BRAINSTORMING! but i finally got to something and made my cover using such amazing features which were there in illustrator and photoshop. last but not the least, all this wont have been possible without the help i got from jessica and anette.

Graphic Design Unit - Drawing

the original
my very first painting :D
my event came from my brother's car accident which had a massive impact on me and also on the people who are close to my heart. so we had to make a painting based on our event. i started by clicking pictures of different things which somehow reminded me of my event and when i finally decided my picture, i had to paint it. for me, it was extremely tough because I've never ever painted, but well, i did my best. I had to do many things in order to make my painting, like, deciding the color palette, making a rough sketch of the painting and so on. I learnt a lot from this.
